C'est à l'âge de 6 ans que Demi Lovato commence à jouer la comédie en obtenant un rôle régulier dans l'émission pour enfant "Barney & Friends". Sur le tournage elle rencontre notamment sa meilleure amie
Selena Gomez ("Les Sorciers de Waverly Place").Tout en poursuivant son apprentissage de la musique elle apparait, en 2006, dans un épisode de la deuxième saison de la série "Prison Break". En 2007, elle participe à un épisode de la série "Just Jordan" sur la chaîne Nickelodeon avant d'obtenir le rôle de Charlotte Adams dans "As The Bell Rings" une mini série de Disney Channel.

Mais ce qui la propulse sur le devant de la scène est le rôle de Mitchie Torres dans le nouveau DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie) "Camp Rock" où, aux côtés des Jonas Brothers, elle dévoile ses multiples talents d'actrice, chanteuse, musicienne et compositrice! La diffusion du téléfilm est prévu pour le 23 septembre 2008 sur Disney Channel France.

La suite s'annonce plus qu'idéale pour Demi Lovato avec la sortie de son premier album (co-écrit avec les Jonas Brothers!) en novembre 2008, un nouveau téléfilm "Princess Protection Program" en 2009 aux côtés de Selena Gomez et sa propre série "Bienvenue à Mollywood". Elle y jouera le rôle de Molly, une jeune adolescente qui voit sa vie changer lorsqu'elle obtient un rôle dans la série du moment.
